Benefits of Oxygen

Oxygen is the most necessary element in the human body. The human body can live weeks without food, days without water, but only minutes without oxygen. Oxygen helps keep our blood flowing, our bodies functioning properly, and aids in helping to fight infections and rid the body of toxins.

Oxygen and free radicals
Oxidative reactions continuously take place during normal cellular metabolism. A secondary effect of these reactions is the production of free radicals. Free radicals are a fact of life. Life as we know it could not exist without free radicals. Free radicals come from two major sources: (a) endogenous, and (b) exogenous. Endogenous free radicals are produced in the body. Exogenous sources include air pollution, of which industrial waste and cigarette smoke are the major contributors. There are many kinds of free radicals, the majority of them not coming from oxygen. Oxygen free radicals are highly reactive, short-lived, and well-controlled. They are actually beneficial because they work as part of the white blood cells’ defense against infection and injury. During our treatment we use a special blend of powerful antioxidants, to help block the damaging actions of free radicals.
Oxygen and aging
Anti-aging literature is filled with studies that support the benefits of oxygen therapy. As we age, our cells do not receive the same amount of oxygen as they did when we were younger. We need oxygen to combat the toxins and disease-causing pollutants we are exposed to every day and to help remove them from our bodies. Without the right amount of oxygen, not only will we be more vulnerable to premature aging, but other problems will also arise, such as skin fragility, decreased cellular turnover, decreased hydration, poor circulation, and extreme skin cell fatigue.
